Over the last three years I’ve delivered a few hundred blog posts (is “one” considered “a few”) covering all things techy. I’ve had my share of fun poking holes at social web statistics, pointed out flaws in modern device design, and made my share of resolutions. Although I didn’t publicly state it, the resolution I never really kept that well was the “keep this blog alive”… I mean, blogging once a month is hardly a blog at all, right?
Well today I have an exciting announcement regarding this blog: it’s moving! Finally, I no longer have to feel guilty about not posting here.
The even better news, is that I have a brand new venue to semi-occasionally share my thoughts on the state of the web. So once you’re done here, head on over to Zach Hofer-Shall’s new Blog at http://blogs.forrester.com/zachariah_hofer_shall (you’ll notice there’s not much to read there yet, give it time!). I’m excited about this move, I think it’ll be good for me - and will definitely be good for you, my loyal reader(s) that hope for more content.
On to a little housekeeping. Let’s do this FAQ-style:
Q. I see that the new blog URL is on the Forrester.com domain - what’s that about?
A. As part of my company’s new social media initiative, I’m now able to blog as part of my research team (Customer Intelligence) where I can share space with other awesome Analysts like Carl Doty, Suresh Vittal, Dave Frankland, and Joe Stanhope (each has their own Forrester blog too, but you can find that from the team blog above, so I thought the twitter shout-out was more appropriate here). This initiative gives me my own hosted space to blog away to my heart’s desire. Plus, it gives me much more credibility than “AmpersandDot” - a stupid domain name joke that I’m sure no one, ever, not once, thought was funny.
Q. What will you blog about at the new domain?
A. My primary topic will be “Social Intelligence” - the technology, services, and strategy of informing you customer insight through social media data.
Q. What does that mean?
A. I’ll write about listening platforms and social media monitoring companies, trends in the social media space that inform marketing, and anything that has to do with collecting and analyzing data found within online discussion. It’s my primary coverage area at Forrester - if you want to learn more - call me, I like to talk about it (as I should).
Q. Will you still write your silly annual technology resolutions?
A. No!
Q. Good!
A. That wasn’t a question. But yes, I was sick of feeling bad about those and now don’t have to worry about them. (Maybe even buy a new computer!) editor’s note to wife: no, I won’t buy another new computer…
Q. Will you still keep up your beer blog?
A. That thing’s been dead for a few months. But thanks for asking! If anything this will revitalize the beer blog.
Q. How can I keep up with the new blog?
A. What a leading question… The best bet is through RSS. The new link (PLEASE UPDATE YOUR READER OF CHOICE!) is http://blogs.forrester.com/zachariah_hofer_shall/feed
Q. So you never did redesign the blog, huh?
A. Nope. Somehow I got out of it. Same design since mid-2007. I should be ashamed. But hey, on the new blog I don’t have to worry about that!
So head on over to Zach Hofer-Shall’s Blog for more fun, make sure to update your RSS feeds, and remember, this isn’t “goodbye”, it’s a “see you over there”.

Congrats on starting up on the new blog platform! Who was asking the questions in your FAQ? Were you talking to yourself? Interesting. Whoever it was, they were a little snippy, especially about your technology resolutions!
