Hi, I’m Zach and I’ll be your host on this site.
As my bio page will tell you, I have been in the Social Computing space for a while. My current job as an Interactive Marketing and Social Computing Researcher for Forrester in Cambridge, MA allows me to learn about the newest edge in social and marketing web technology. I spend my free time reading numerous blogs, creating a lot of blogs, writing a bit of code, managing some blogs, and basically working with people to a) understand the importance of the social web b) establish a presence on the social web and c) manage their presence online within social communities and the blogosphere.
All that said: I don’t like the words blog or blogosphere but unfortunately find them both necessary in my line of work.
Things you’ll be able to read about here:
- Social Media News and Thoughts
- East Coast Tech News (the internet doesn’t solely exist in Silicon Valley)
- Gadget News, Reviews, and Previews
- Windows Mobile Specific Posts
- Boston/Cambridge Event Coverage
- Video Games (I’ll try not to write about them too often, I promise)
- Probably Some Other things
- Theories of future Tech (I like to write down my wild predictions, in case they come true)
So here’s how to figure out if you’ll enjoy reading my postings- do you find the following ten thoughts interesting (it doesn’t matter if you agree, just if you might want to read more about the topics)?
- Facebook’s $15B valuation is too high by about 600% (and that’s being generous)
- I’ve never owned an iPod, nor do I plan on it
- If I were to create a supply/demand chart for 2008 Web Startups, I’d need a second sheet of paper to reach the top of of the “supply” section
- There are five computers in my apartment: one mac, two and a half running XP, one running Kubuntu; I’ve reformatted one of them over 16 times. Only 8 of the times were out of necessity
- I usually reflash my current Windows Mobile device every other month, never has it been “necessary” (currently runs WM6.1 ported from an HTC Touch)
- I think MySpace is the best way to meet someone… mainly Chris Hansen from Dateline NBC
- I don’t think the Palm Foleo was as big a flop is everyone has claimed
- I’m well aware of the Web 2.0 bubble theory… let’s just keep pretending it’s not real
- I think the term “Web 2.0″ is way over used
- I will never give in to using emoticons
Ok, so are you interested yet?
Check back pseudo-often for updates.
Enjoy
